Japan Trip 2012, Day 13 - Haneda Airport

At the conclusion of my mindless Akihabara shopping spree, I went to the Crazy Crepe for a final bite to the sweet deliciousness of Rare Strawberry Cheesecake Crepe. I actually ran into my friend again here, and we exchanged some words and our final goodbyes this side of the Pacific Ocean. It was around 19:30, and I knew I had to start heading towards the airport.

This was probably the first time I'd ever been at Haneda Airport, since I've usually flown out of Narita. Haneda started handling international flights sometime in 2010 though, and since I deemed it much more worth it to leave from there, I guess my plans brought me to Haneda for the first time.

It's a fairly nice place, but the shops around the terminal are pretty impressive. The second floor, where all the food is, is like a traditional market street in Japan... except by the time I'd checked my bags, it was almost 22:00. By this point, if stores weren't closed already, they were about to close, including the bookstore that I kinda wanted to browse. Meh.

There were some Tanabata decorations, since this was about the time of the year when it's celebrated.

The third floor had a standard mall attached to it as well, in two wings they called the Hot Zone and the Cool Zone (don't ask me). As well, from this floor, you can go to an outside plaza overlooking the runways. It's pretty cool.

When I was ready, I mailed off my phone back to the rental company, and went through security. On the way to the gate, I found an interesting advertisement.

Again, most things were closed, so even once in the gates, there was little to do but go to my gate and wait for my plane. Of course, there were vending machines past the gates, and my last purchase in Japan ended up being some canned coffee. Other than that, I spent the rest of my time waiting, relaxing, and contemplating the entirety of my trip.
