Rockin' the box

Well, I originally got my Sansa Fuze mainly because it could play FLACs and didn't cost triple digits like the Cowon D2. Maybe I should stop being lazy and recompress my music whenever I put it on my Fuze, but eh...

So, I read online a bit and discovered that the general consensus on the Fuze's equalizer... was that it sucked immensely. The solution everyone said solved the problem was Rockbox. The only downside was that it sucked up battery life. I'm quite happy with the battery life of my Fuze, so much in fact I think it's excessive. So, Rockbox.

It took me a little while to get used to the interface, seeing as the menu button pops you back to the main menu, and the Home button... well, doesn't. In fact, it's not used for much anymore, as far as I can tell. The one thing I found a bit odd was that the Sansa's firmware is used for USB connections since Rockbox can't handle that yet. So, you'll plug in the USB cable and it'll load up your old Sansa firmware until you turn it off. When you turn it back on, Rockbox starts up. Kinda odd, they really need to get that working sometime.

Now, it's time to experiment for a few hours on EQ settings, for both sets of 'phones I got. I swear, the Nuforces put out more bass than I like, and I think the majority of people out there would disagree with me. Maybe it's because I listen to Winamp too much under the Live EQ settings, which naturally tone down the bass.

I think I'll see if microSD support is in... not that I really used it with the original firmware. ^^;
