Wallet May Cry

Finally, got my computer space all set up. Whoo... slacked off a bit and read some K-On after carrying that heavy bookshelf, but I finally got everything set up, except for shelf placement.

The desk actually is in the shape of an L, so you can place your keyboard tray whereever (there's holes to do that on each side), but it was really hard getting those screws in. I got an electric screwdriver, hoping to use the power of electricity to get those stubborn screws for the keyboard tray in, but I found that when they were rested, my hands actually generated more torque than the electric screwdriver. Didn't save me from getting a blister, though. It also doesn't have enough room for a mouse, which is kinda disappointing, except that might damage the shelf faster. So maybe I can see why they didn't do that.

I actually damaged the middle piece a bit by dropping it twice... I fit it in where it goes without screwing it in, it dropped while I switched positions to screw it in (I think that's what I was doing), then it dropped again... I think doing the same thing, getting a thing of white paint residue on it or something. I'll need some sandpaper, that should fix it.

Next, the bookshelf part. It's right to the side of me, and sad to say, the inside bottom part isn't going to be used much. I might stuff the surge protectors down there, not sure, and the ledge is there so I can stuff miscellaneous items somewhere, if I want to. I'll need a lamp on the upper inside. About the only other thing I don't like about this setup... I would have rather had a bit more space for the window, as the bookshelf obscures it slightly from where I sit.

And finally, a pic of the whole set up. I think I'm going to need a mini-fridge right next to the bookshelf, that'd be great. Maybe I can get a microwave on the upper inside shelf too, in case I find I put food in the refrigerator often.

Finally as a bonus, all the figures I've got.

From left to right: Octavia (Tears to Tiara, have yet to play it), Reiko Haga (Comic Party), Azusa Miura (Idolm@ster), Rena (.hack/UdeDen, from the limited Rena Special Pack), Tsuruya-san (Haruhi), Sakuya Izayoi (Touhou), and Minami Makimura (Comic Party). Not shown: Mint Blancmanche (Galaxy Angel), she's still in the limited edition Galaxy Angel box under the figures.

Can't figure out how to get the plastic out from under Octavia's shirt, maybe I have to cut it? It seems there's a seam on one side, but that just seems odd. I should just be able to pull some part off, then unwrap it, right?

Quite a workout getting these things here, though. The desk and the upper bookshelf were pretty heavy, weighting about the same, except I had to carry the desk through doors length-wise. In other words, as soon as I hit the door, it went off my back and was squeezed between my hands in front of me. Not optimal by a long shot. The upper bookshelf, well... read the other post today. The lower bookshelf wasn't that bad, though. I still got my nightstand to assemble, but that'll come later. Maybe tomorrow.
