Japan Trip 2012, Day 6 - Shopping

Didn't really do too much today besides shop in Akihabara. I unfortunately had no time to go out to Nakano Broadway, and I think everyone realized that they forgot to set aside time to browse through the streets of Akiba so they could throw more money at it.

So yeah, not much to see today. When we were done shopping, we did convene at Yodobashi Camera, which has a nice, nice section devoted to headphones. They're available for auditioning as well, and anyone can pop a CD in the changers they have (either one of their own or one of the sample discs the store keeps around) and give them a whirl.

I tried some Audio Technicas, they're a good company, and then I went on to... the STAX SR-009's. They're like speakers you put on your ears, they cost nearly five grand, but the sound... is like a sweet, strawberry-glazed cheesecake that melts in your mouth. I went back to my $200 headphones afterwards and felt spoiled.

Since today, Tokyo was celebrating Tanabata, we happened across a bamboo tree adorned with tanzaku - the strips of paper upon which one writes his wishes. The only thing special about the tree was that it was in Geek Central, Japan (read: Akihabara), so the wishes were mostly those from the cast of Bakemonogatari.

Mayoi had a bunch of things to say about Araragi, including a wish that he get owned and schooled. As well, some of the staff that worked on the show had their own tanzaku, though not all of them contained wishes.

For more pictures of the headphones I tried and the wishes I saw, you can look at my photo album on Shutterfly.
