If I had room for a display case...

Earlier this week, my Rin Shibuya figure that I bought from AmiAmi came in. The figure is nothing short of stunning.

However, when putting the figure together, I was a little worried because fitting all the extra pieces (the mic, cable, and stand) require a bit of gentle coaxing to get into place. I suppose it's like that so that when it's all together, it stays in place, but part of it worries me if you ever have to put the figure up.

First... well, I'm sure the figure was sculpted with this in mind, and it really isn't too much, but the figure was made to stand on one leg. I was confused for a bit until I realized that there was nowhere on the figure stand to attach her left leg.

The microphone itself isn't too bad, as a little bit of light twisting will get it into Rin's left hand.

The stand, however, can't be slid into her right hand because that bulge right in the middle of it. You gotta get it up to her hand, then kinda squeeze it in.

The part that worries me the most, however, is attaching the mic to the stand. They're meant to be attached to each other after you put them in her hands. Sure it might not be a big deal when you're putting the figure up, but what happens if you need to undo the process? I did it once just to see how it was, and I was worried that me pulling the microphone and the stand apart would then transfer all that stress onto her hand once it got loose. I had to do it very carefully, and afterwards decided not to attach it the stand, but to let it rest on the microphone.

Then there's the weird cable. You can attach it to the microphone before you put it in her hands, but... well, I don't know if it's just mine, but the part of it that attaches to the microphone is a little bent, so it doesn't fit in very well. The little bit on the cord can be slid up and down however, so if you need a little bit of extra cord to shove into the microphone, you can move it back.

I feel really paranoid handling the figure, but when you get everything together, she looks really good. There's lots of attention to the detail in Rin's frilly dress and her ribbons. You can even see the belt holes on her boots and her laces flutter realistically. Now, my only problem is that I hardly have any shelf space left for her. I've got too much stuff!
