He's fighting to fill your dark soul with... ah, forget it.

Okay, so it's like lately, there's been all sorts of stuff going on in games that's been cool, and there's been yet another announcement that's got me excited.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

Coming out in November this year according to one source, the game will feature 12 new characters, the entire original cast, and what is hopefully a bunch of balance and bug fixes. The previous DLC characters will remain just that. They've officially announced four characters, but artwork of the other eight speculated characters popped up on the official website for a brief moment... before Capcom panicked and took them down I guess. It more or less confirms the rumors for me, though.

On the Capcom side, there're really only two names that matter to me. The first is Ryuuichi Naruhodou, otherwise known in the States as Phoenix Wright - finally, the Power of Attorney will be unleashed in the newest battle for two worlds. Strangely, since Naruhodo looks like he came straight out of the Justice High School series, I have to say he probably won't look too out of place until he starts throwing around special moves.

But the one that's got me spasming in rabid fan glee is Vergil. Dante's brother and hands down, the best, most bad-a** villian in the entire series and perhaps the entire history of gaming returns. Quite frankly, it's almost as if Devil May Cry can't really do without Vergil since he showed up in 3. DMC4 introduced a character that was rather Vergil-like, Nero, and though he didn't have the cold, demonic demeanor of his predecessor, one could argue that he was intended to fill the void left behind by Vergil's death. He inherited Vergil's signature katana Yamato, throws Summoned Swords in Devil Trigger, and his name is a mere mistransliterated letter away from Nelo Angelo, the ultimate title afforded to the late Dark Slayer. The new dmc is an origin story, and it's not unreasonable to expect a young Vergil aside everyone's favorite, pizza-eating Devil Hunter. Honestly, if references or appearances to Vergil stopped at DMC1, then perhaps he wouldn't be so tightly bound to the series, but it seems like since DMC3 ended, the series has tried to play catch up with itself in his absence. He was that good a character.

The other characters I did want to see, however, didn't make it in. I personally wanted some Breath of Fire representation, not in the form of Ryu, but in the form of Fou-lu. As well, I kinda wanted to see Rockman Volnutt and Saki Omokane back, but it looks like they're not in. The final person I wanted in was Akira Kazama, 'cause she's seriously the best character in her series and was set for another appearance before that game got canned. To a certain extent I also wanted Demon Hyo for a new Capcom villian, though between Demon Hyo, Fou-lou, and Vergil, I'm going with Vergil. Beyond my own wishes, I did hear some people talking about how they wanted Lynn Kurosawa in the game, and I'd also approve of that.

But well, things be what they may, I'm running Vergil when the game comes out. Might put Zero in the team, too. Third? Who knows. Personal favorites are Dante, X-23, Amaterasu, Tron Bonne (can't play her, though), and Spencer (can't play him either). I really wanted to put Lei-Lei/Hsien-ko in a team, but well... it was pretty tough.
