Grab the torches, we're off to war!

Okay, so now that I realize that alignments have all but rendered my Totomono run useless (it may be a game, but I still have issues with killing things that don't want to attack me to change alignments), I'm thinking of stepping off the game for a bit to replan.

But, in the time I won't be playing it, I think I'll be playing Grand Knights History. Apparently, the main draw of this game is to take the characters you raise in offline mode into online mode, where you can fight other players (or the AI the player's made for them). You can choose to align yourself with one of three nations, and can do quests and training regimens to build up your characters before sending them off to wage war in the online mode of the game.

The first nation is Union, led by King Leon (voiced by Daisuke Kishio, don't know this guy), and is a nation filled with what you'd expect a nation of chivalrous knights would be filled with. I really don't know what they're doing, but it looks like they saved Queen Sephia from Logress, after she got deposed by their rebellion. I think they're for people who enjoy tossing back their blonde hair, people who are into the whole paladin/holy knight thing, or people who like to shout tokusatsu battle cries and stuff.

The second is the ancient, mountain kingdom of Logress headed by King Fausel, who is a complete and total badass. Voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, he led a rebellion against the oppressive former government and succeeded. Now his followers think he's so awesome he should rule the world or something (and they're right, he is awesome), but I'm not sure I like that reason for going to war, or the atmosphere of the kingdom in general. I guess this one's for guys who enjoy tossing back their white hair, guys that are fans of dark knights or gothic nobility, or guys that like to say cool one-liners at every opportunity to raise the general level of awesome in the world.

The last is Avalon, the magic kingdom headed by Queen Muse. She's voiced by Kikuko Inoue and they're going to war because they're seeking to obtain things called Maiden Gems or something. What they're trying to do is attain some sort of immaterial and missing power they call the Wisdom of the Ancients using these things... which always comes to me as a surprise because normally, civilization advances to a point where Whatever of the Ancients is stone age stuff. But whatever. I guess if you're a fan of fantasy realms and spirit worlds, talking in foreign (dead) languages that nobody knows while raining down armageddon, or tossing back your long, ankle-length hair, this is the country for you.

Honestly, I think I'm going Avalon, for a number of reasons... the main reason was because the most awesome thing about Logress is King Fausel, and past that the country itself and their reason for fighting isn't my style. Union is too holy divine crusade justice for me, even if the queen is kinda cool. So, Avalon. I like fighting better by fighting smarter.

As for characters, the thing about the game is that you raise characters, send them off to war, and repeat this process... except you get better raising characters as the game progresses. So apparently, as you go through the game, you'll eventually hit a point when your characters are outpaced in terms of raw stats. That's when you send them off to war, and when you start over at Lv. 1, all your enemies will scale back down to your level, except you can raise your next squad to have better stats. In other words, you level up your ability to level up.

So, that means you've gotta have a few squads in mind, and your earlier ones won't be as strong as your later ones. I'll be thinking, but for now, my main party will consist of (subject to change)...

Cael (Me) - Knight (Divine Knight, Calm, Great Sword/Rapier)
Maya Matsumoto, Working!! - Knight (Battle Maiden, Calm, Rapier/Spear)
Himeko Tachibana, K-ON! - Wizard (Diviner, Sincere, Water)
Tsukiyo Ooba, Sketchbook - Archer (Sniper, Languid, Guns)

... and I'll be grabbing other minor/mob characters for my other teams.

Also, the Japanese servers IP ban anyone outside Japan, so I'll have to find a proxy somewhere.
